Child Protection/Safeguarding

Safeguarding in our School

We all have the right to be safe all of the time

Keeping Children Safe in Education is reviewed regularly by the Government.  Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is updated to reflect changes as and when they are made.

The designated safeguarding lead (DSL) is the person appointed to take lead responsibility for child protection issues in school. The school also has two deputy safeguarding leads (DDSL).

The DSL and the safeguarding team:

  • ensures safeguarding is at the heart of the school ethos and that all staff are supported in knowing how to recognise and respond to potential concerns
  • as required, liaises with the local authority designated officer at the local authority if a concern has arisen regarding a member of staff
  • liaises with parents and staff on matters of safety and safeguarding and when deciding whether to make a referral by liaising with relevant agencies
  • act as a source of support, advice and expertise for parents and staff

DSL: Rachael Hatch

DDSL: Jenny Matthews and Martin Borrott

Safeguarding Governor: Richard Morse

Online Safety Lead: Martin Borrott

At Goonhavern Primary School we are committed to safeguarding all children and at the top of our priority list is the safety of your child. We work hard to ensure that the children in our care are safeguarded at all times. We have clear policies in place to ensure this happens with regard to all child protection procedures. These can be found below.
