A Day In The Life Of Class R

A typical day will look something like this:

8:45 - 9:00 Children arrive in Class R. Here you will find us engaging in calming and grounding activities, indoors. These are usually 'Funky Finger' activities where we are building strength in our hands ready for writing and other relationship building games. Activities might include, threading beads, painting, doing jigsaw puzzles, board games, play dough, junk modelling, building with magnetic shapes, lego or blocks, to name but a few.

9:15 - 9:25 Wake and Shake - This is where we get moving to make sure our whole body is ready for learning.

9:20 - 10:00 Read Write Inc (Please see separate tab for more info)

10:00 - 11:30 Garden Time - child initiated learning time - In the garden you might find us building dens, lighting fires, cooking snacks on the fire, making potions, building obstacle courses, reading stories, climbing trees, exploring numbers in nature, painting, writing signs, writing stories, writing recipes, bug hunting, digging in the sand, engaging in water play, working in our wood workshop using real tools and probably lots more! During this time, our highly skilled team of adults will be engaging in meaningful interactions with children to enhance their learning and development. 

11:45 - 13:00 - Lunch time and playground time with Yr 1 and 2.

!13:00 - 13:20 - Adult led: Story time/ maths input/ yoga/ tapestry/singing.

13:20-14:45 - Child led learning time both indoors and/out - During this time, our highly skilled team of adults will be engaging in meaningful interactions with children to enhance their learning and development. 

14:50 - 15:10 - Adult led: story time/tapestry/singing/yoga

15:15 - Home time
